Everybody knows of the potential sea fishing opportunities available around the coast of Ireland.
The small fishing village of Courtmacsherry has established itself as one of Ireland's premier sea angling centres. At the Sea Angling Centre you'll find everything you need to make the most of your fishing holiday. The Centre has a fleet of 16ft self-drive boats and two 38ft purpose-built angling boats with a cruising speed of 18 knots to give you more fishing time.
Offering a fantastic picturesque coastline there is no need to travel far in order to find fish, be it the numerous Pollack, great flatfish large Bass and of course plenty of Mackerel that can either be feathered for bait or on light enough tackle can offer great sport in their own right.
However it is the inshore Bass fishing that should really put this area on the map, it is not unusual to catch more than 20 fish in a single session. Tactics can best be described as traditional running rigs involving a running a swivel and a barrel weight or optionally a running boom with a small weight. The favourite bait used locally is live Sandeel although if you are looking for an easier way of getting into the fish then rubber eels can also be used, Redgills being very effective in various colours included blue, silver and orange. Depending on your preference a slow tow will catch fish although drifting can also be effective.
Top Spots
Horse Rock, provides great Pollack sport for light tackle enthusiasts.
Clonakily, great inshore Bass fishing can be found close around the rocky shore.
